2008-2011 Porsche 997 (911) (997.2) MKII Carrera 4 Specifications SpecsIn 2008 The Porsche 997 (911) Carrera 4 was released with an updated power plant and improved all wheel drive system. Like the standard Porsche 911 the Carrera 4 received very little updates to it’s styling except for the addition of LED lighting. Although it is hard to tell the difference between this version and the first generation 997, the engine had changed considerably. According to Porsche they had reduced the components in the engine by nearly 40% improving its already well-known Porsche 911 reliability and reducing its weight. Along with the changes to the engine, the all wheel drive system was changed to the same system in the Turbo, the PTM (Porsche Traction Management). Also, as with the rear wheel drive Carrera, the Porsche 997 Carrera 4 MKII had the available Tiptronic automatic transmission replaced with the PDK (Porsche’s new double clutch transmission), allowing drivers to choose between manual or automatic.
