2004-2008 Porsche 997 (911) 1rst Generation (997.1) Carrera Specifications Specs:In 2004 the Porsche 997 Carrera was released adding another generation to the already 40-year-old 911 brand. From the introduction of the 996, most enthusiasts felt its styling was dull and not very 911 distinctive. Answering enthusiasts concerns the 997 takes its overall shape and design cues from the previous 993 generation. Not only was the exterior changed, but also the interior was redesigned and provided commonly expected luxuries available already in sports cars of a similar price range. Porsche also added the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) system to the 997, which allowed drivers to switch between a comfortable standard suspension setup to a more aggressive sport setting. They also made available the Sport Chrono option which when activated improved throttle response and power. This Porsche 911 provided, for the time, modern luxuries as well as the legendary Carrera feel.
