1998-2001 Porsche 996 3.4 liter (911) Carrera 4 Specifications Specs

1998-2001 Porsche 996 3.4 liter (911) Carrera 4 Specifications SpecsIn 1998 the Porsche 996 3.4 liter Carrera 4 was released providing a new level of handling with its ingenious all wheel drive system. The 996 Carrera 4 shared the same power plant at the standard Carrera 2, but was instead mated to Porsche’s all wheel drive system. This new drive train only put 5% of the power to the front wheels under normal driving conditions giving it a rear wheel drive feel, but if the stability management system detected slipping it could allocate as much as 40% of the power to the front wheels. Not only did this new system help with slippery conditions, but also it would automatically attempt to rectify any over or under steer conditions. Porsche’s stability management system is one of the few that actually makes you a better driver. As with the Carrera 2, the 996 Carrera 4 also suffered from the same potential engine failure issues, so again very important to do your homework if you are looking to acquire one of these Porsche 911s.
